The most abundant Mangrove Swamp (a type of Wetland) in Malaysia is found along the long coastline of Sabah. Kellybays’ mangrove swamp is unique on its own and its calm river mirrors the beautiful reflection of the mangrove trees especially during the months of April and May. Walking along the wooden bridge to the waiting special thatched roofed bamboo raft which is the only form of transportation to cross over the river to KellyBays, you will definitely notice the colorful fiddler crabs and mud skippers beneath the bridge and also the oyster farms nearby. The ride on the Bamboo Raft is yet another “Cool” experience as you have an up-close view of the different types of Mangrove Trees such as Rhizophora (Bakau), Sonneratia and Avicennia (Api-Api).
